This course aims to develop a mastery of fundamental concepts and principles in Li-ion battery technology, for electrical propulsion and energy storage applications. This course will include the following parts: (1) battery concepts and operation mechanism; (2) electro-thermodynamics; (3) fundamentals of electrochemistry; (4) transport process; (5) equivalent circuit model; (6) physics-based model; (7) thermal runaway and safety issues; (8) thermal management system.
